Traffic Pricing Update

Recently we have noticed your monthly traffic consumption is over the Unleash fair use policy. We want to make sure Unleash is salable, reliable, and as performant as you would expect. To do so we actively monitor traffic to our platform, to ensure the loads are aligned with the expected traffic on the active subscription. The fair use policy states that you can consume 20 requests per second on average towards your Unleash instance. This summaries to 53 million requests included per month.

You can inspect your usage in the Network -> “Data Usage” dashboard, in the “Admin section”.

Why do I get this notification now?
In our strive to provide the best possible offering in the market, we have implemented more detailed information about the usage of Unleash to our customers. This is to guide you in best practices of how to get the most out of Unleash.
In our experience, the most common reason why customers require more than 20 requests/second is when they integrate fronted SDKs directly towards the Unleash instance.

The simplest solution, and our recommended approach, is to take advantage of the Unleash Edge in that scenario. Unleash Edge is a simple way to scale to any frontend or backend needs, and you get the added benefits of additional privacy, and improved resiliency, and you can host it close to your users. A modest Unleash Edge instance can easily serve thousands of requests per second, and will in practice remove most of the traffic from your hosted Unleash instance.

What If I just want to pay you to handle the traffic?
That’s fine too. We are happy to take on the challenge of scaling Unleash to serve your needs.
When you go above your included traffic our current price is $5 per million requests ($0,000005 per request). All usage over the included plan will be applied automatically to your subscription the following month.

What happens next?
Transparency is a core value to us, we don’t want to make changes without good communication with our customers. For this reason, the data usage view is already available on your Unleash instance. You will have a 4-week grace period to take the needed steps to adjust accordingly. Please let us know if you cannot accommodate and this causes challenges on your end. Starting from December, traffic overages will be added to your current subscription.
